Wilmington, North Carolina - Art Prints
FREE SHIPPING These picturesque buildings caught my eye as a new resident of Wilmington. I spent several days sitting in the parking lot to capture this scene.
The Cotton Exchange is a modern shopping venue within eight interconnected historical buildings dating back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The structures have been left intact with the addition of some modern amenities. Visitors will find exposed walls made from old ships' ballast and hand-hewn wooden beams forty feet long.
Gigantic lamps, once belonging to Wilmington’s old customs house, flank the entrance to the stores. The Cotton Exchange opened in 1976.
I am offering prints of this original drawing to anyone who appreciates historic building restoration.

FREE SHIPPING This 469 year-old tree is the largest Live Oak in North Carolina. This beautiful tree, whose trunk measures 21 feet in circumference, stands in Airlie Gardens on the bank of Bradley Creek in Wilmington, NC. I spent three days under the oak, studying the twisted trunk, thick bark, Spanish Moss, and sunlit patterns. This pen and ink drawing is a record of what my eye saw as I enjoyed the immense strength and ancient beauty of this majestic tree.

Joggers, ice cream enthusiasts, sunset gazers, photographers, families, young lovers - all frequent the picturesque wooden Riverwalk at the heart of the waterfront. This view of Wilmington, from the Battleship Park, is often photographed by visitors to the region. I drew this on location over a period of a week. The original measures 11" x 14".

FREE SHIPPING I drew this free-hand on location at the New Hanover County Arboretum in Wilmington, NC. FREE SHIPPING This beautiful historic church, Mount Lebanon Chapel, was built in 1830 by Dr. Thomas Henry Wright on the 320 acre property known at the time as Mount Lebanon. He conceived the idea to build a chapel for members of St. James Episcopal who lived in the area. It was deeded to St. James in 1875. Restored in 1974, it was listed in the National Registry of Historic Places in 1986. It is the oldest surviving church in New Hanover County.
When I was asked to create a painting for a wedding invitation, I started to sketch the chapel from different angles. I landed on this view which captures the character of the picturesque building. I completed the drawing out of love for the beautiful old church and I am offering prints to anyone who loves it too.

FREE SHIPPING I call this drawing "The Foot of Market Street." This is one of my favorite locations at which to do my free-hand, on location, pen and ink drawings. The building to the left, built in 1857, is the Riverboat Landing Restaurant where many of my friends have gotten engaged on one of the balconies overlooking the Cape Fear River. The wooden Riverwalk extends along the riverfront and is a favorite place to jog, stroll, eat an ice cream cone, or watch the sunset over the Battleship.
